Montgomery County Domestic Violence Warrant Sweep Results in Multiple Arrests
It takes a lot of courage for victims of domestic violence to notify the police. When victims of battery, rape, stalking, assault, and unlawful restraint contact the police, they expect to be protected from their abuser. But, it’s common for dangerous people to continue to break the terms of their probation and restraining orders. To deter this type of illegal activity and punish those who break the law, local police officers took part in Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.
For the 13th year in a row, the nationwide sweep of law enforcement agencies worked to raise awareness for domestic violence issues. Sheriff’s deputies in Montgomery County arrested 17 offenders of domestic violence. According to a report in the Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch, the individuals were arrested for violations including probation violations, possession of a controlled substance, theft by unlawful taking, simple assault, resisting arrest, and failure to appear in court. Pennsylvania Woman Fakes Death to Avoid Being Killed by Boyfriend
On August 21, a Bethlehem Pennsylvania woman was the victim of extreme domestic violence. The young woman received a text message from a male friend, which enraged her 25 year old boyfriend. “See what you made me do? Now I’m going to have to kill (you),” he allegedly said. He grabbed her throat and repeatedly punched her in the face. He then shoved a rag down her throat and threw her down a flight of basement stairs. The woman faked a fatal seizure to avoid further beating, and was able to crawl up the stairs to call police the next morning. Read the rest »

Deadbeat Parents Arrested
On July 15th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies arrested nine men in a night raid for failure to pay child support. Authorities said the males owed a combined $96,827.90 in support for ten children. As reported by ABC 6, twelve deputies with K9s tracked the men across Bridgeport, Spring City, Norristown, Royersford, Pottstown, Spring City, and Lansdale.
