Sheryl Rentz Biography

To begin with - I love what I do. I help people make a fresh start, get court orders for individuals who experience domestic violence, assure child support is paid so the custodial parent has food and clothing for their child, and ensure that children have relationships with their parents.

However, the story is a bit long to get to this point. I started at Western Electric and then moved to AT&T Bell Labs after receiving an MBA. The job was interesting and the times were changing. It is funny now to think that the newest and biggest invention was the integration of voice and data. Today, as we use our phones for everything, it is hard for us to remember a day when that was not a possibility. I have traveled throughout this country daily to promote this technological advancement. The others working this area and I met with our clients (mine were government clients and most required me to have top level security clearance) to discuss their needs, wants and to receive general feedback. This was exciting and challenging. But after 16 years of living out of a suitcase, I decided I needed a home, a puppy and a personal life. I very much miss all of my friends and colleagues throughout the country but it was time for a change.

I worked and went to law school at night. Speaking of challenges; there were not enough hours in the day to complete my work and schooling. However, I graduated and it was now time to begin career number 2. It is amazing how much more focused you are; maybe it is age or just determination. The beginning was slow, but that was good as I learned and set up my law office. My career as a Montgomery County PA family law attorney then took off as I began to teach, lecture and promote myself. As my confidence rose, so did the quality of work.

Today, I am in court almost daily and I look forward to thinking on my feet. But my ultimate weapon is being overly prepared. I know my case and I research current law and cases. One client asked why I had to do this each and every time. My reply was simple; each case is different and each time you read the law, you read it differently. I will never stop learning or thinking critically when providing my clients with the legal help they need and deserve.
